Investing in the New Alberta
A decade of aggressive debt-repayment in the province of Alberta has lead to the proclamation of a debt-free province, a rarity in today's world. The subsequent available monies has resulted in an eruption of calls for funding increases for various government programs and services, most popularly healthcare and education. While various organizations are clamouring for new or increased funding, it is not entirely clear where the vision for Alberta's future is being driven from. In this unique position, it is an opportunity to consider the alternatives that can best lead to an attractive and prosperous area of the country that bring business, talent, and opportunity to the province beyond a short-term.
The Edmonton and Calgary chapters have recognized the need to look into the future and identify the future of Alberta according to their perspective.
Each chapter will be holding a local roundtable, engaging members of the community, and drawing upon Canada25's growing wealth of progressive policy thinking, to develop a series of recommendations for the provincial government, as well as businesses and other organizations, as a vision for the future of Alberta.
