  • Investing in the New Alberta

On March 31, 2005, the Government of Alberta of?cially became debt-free. As one of the most economically vibrant provinces in Canada, with signi?cant ?scal surpluses, low taxes, and a fast-growing young and energetic population, Alberta has much to look forward to as it enters its second century. Alberta is in an enviable position right now – we are at a crossroads. Imagination, not complacency, is needed if our generation and those that will follow us are to enjoy the prosperity achieved by our parents. Excited by the opportunity to inject new ideas from youthful perspective into the public discussion on how Alberta can and should shape its future, the Calgary and Edmonton chapters of Canada25 held roundtable discussions and prepared a report.

Investing in the Next Alberta: Beyond 2005 presents our views on the kind of Alberta we want to live in and how we believe it can be achieved. Albertans have paid off their debt – what do we do next?
