In 2002, Canada25 turned its attention to Canadians cities,
and how they can better attract talent and retain young
talent and become engines of economic development. “Building
Up” is our answer to this question.
“Building Up” contributes to the national
debate on cities by (1) raising points for open and
constructive debate to encourage dialogue; (2) drawing
implications by articulating policy directions to help
Canadian cities become magnets for talent and (3) identifying
specific initiatives to translate talk into action.
Ultimately, “Building Up” offers an exhilarating
vision of great Canadian cities, one that will require
a concentrated effort from all sectors of society. With
this report, Canada25 is pleased to lay the foundation
for construction, and we will continue to move forward
to make change happen.
“Building Up” represents the collective
work of more than 350 outstanding young Canadians.
